Teaching

Teaching interests / I seek to provide students hands-on practice in critical skills to foster equity and inclusion, including critical self-awareness, reflexivity, and interdisciplinary approaches that seek to understand and value diverse perspectives.

I have developed graduate courses at UBC in the Women’s+ and Children’s Health graduate program (WACH 506, Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science) and the Master of Health Administration (SPHA 580B, Foundations in Health Care Leadership).

I have also lectured and taught qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods workshops extensively for clinicians enrolled in graduate and post-graduate research training in health systems and translational research. This includes mentoring health professionals as a preceptor and research supervisor in the UBC Clinician Scholar Program and the UBC Family Planning Fellowship. For my teaching in the Clinician Scholar Program, I was recognized with a Preceptor Excellence Award in 2020.

Mentorship and Supervision / I currently lead a team of 7 graduate students, 5 staff, and multiple community partners through the Munro Lab at UBC. I have a strong commitment to community engagement and capacity bridging and provide a range of paid internships for students, health professional learners, community leaders, and youth. Please see my Research page for current projects. Starting January 2024 I will be accepting inquiries for graduate student supervision through the University of Washington.
